Château de Romainville
Route des Alluets le Roi
78920 ECQUEVILLY
The château, the history of which dates back to the 16th century, was confiscated as the property of the nation in 1798, and later sold to Monsieur G. Perrier, a Paris notary. In turn, Monsieur Davillier, the Regent of the Bank of France, purchased it on the 18th day of Brumaire in the Year XIII (the equivalent of the 9th November 1804 in the French Revolutionary calendar). In 1893 Henry Deutch, an industrialist, had built here today’s Château de Romainville and its set of outbuildings. A man who appreciated both town and countryside, he came here to rest and seek inspiration, and it is here that he wrote a number of plays and operas… A passion which gave us the beautiful theatre we can still see today.
