Allow time to take time
Allow time to take time : « I don’t see why we went on a residential seminar just as rushed off our feet as we are at the office, without time to even step out of doors ».
Be sure to include free periods for meetings, exchange of best practices, informal discussions, relaxation. A massage, a visit to the vegetable garden, a ping-pong match, a walk through the forest, an extended coffee break, will render your meeting more effective since it will be less frustrating for the participants.
Arrive the night before
Don’t start your meeting under stress : « I woke up at 6am, and drove here to ensure I was on time. With the traffic jams, I arrived 30 minutes late. I had to give a presentation this morning and I was already stressed ».
If your budget and timeframe so permit, try to arrive with your teams the evening prior to your meeting. A good meal and an initial discussion around the bar or the fireplace will ensure that you start your meeting on time, together with everybody else, refreshed and ready. You will gain in efficiency... and why not close the last day at 4:30 pm, as compensation, to enable everyone to return home in time for their evening meal ?
Plan time for leisure activities
After a period of relaxation, we work better : « the leisure activities - very good, but I wasn’t able to benefit from them ».
Change your routine of « 9 am – 12 pm / 2 pm – 6 pm ». Opt instead, if you are organising a training session, for 8:30 am – 12 pm, with leisure activities from 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm (or a forest picnic), before returning to work until 7:30 pm / 8 pm. You will have had the same number of hours for your meeting, but following lunch will have enjoyed trying your hand at archery, a bit of sport or a good walk, which will enable you to better handle the next few hours. If yours is a discussion meeting, why not stop at 11 am, and continue the discussion during a mountain bike ride through the forest ? We do not always need a paperboard to elaborate strategies. An informal discussion in the middle of the day may be just what you need to find that other direction.
Allow us to organize your transfers
Airport transfers : « if I had known, I would have let Châteauform’ take care of everything when they offered to do so ».
Taxis at the airport don’t always know the Ile-de-France region. After driving around (and see the price of the ride increase), they will drive your delegates in late. Allow us to organize your transfers after having given to each of your delegate the map to the castle they are meeting in.
