Built in 1750 by Reverend Largillère and extended in 1849 by Antoine Havard, a Parisian industrialist, Châteauform’ Neuville-Bosc is a typical example of 18th and 19th century French architecture. Fervent admirer of the Vexin countryside, Antoine Havard was so enchanted by the beauty of the setting that he undertook the building of a farm, a school, a tenant farmer’s house, a village hall and a barn alongside the château. Converted in 1993 by architect R. Gallois, the barn now provides a meeting room facility. Today, to ensure that their charm and beauty remains intact, the village and surrounding forest are part of a conservation area, listed under the protection of the French Historical Monuments authorities. Up until the second half of the 17th century, the domain of Neuville-Bosc was little more than a group of fields, cottages, and vines surrounded by woodland.
